After the Cardinals won two of the first three games between these two teams in the first series, the Royals bounced back and won the first game of this series and tied the season series at two games apiece. Steven Cruz was credited with the win as a reliever. He threw 1.2 scoreless innings with two strikeouts. St. Louis reliever Steven Matz was the losing pitcher, allowing two earned runs over 1.1 innings with two strikeouts.

Bobby Witt Jr. continued his hot season at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, a home run and four RBIs. He is now hitting .287 on the season. Nick Loftin also homered for Kansas City in the win as Vinnie Pasquantino and Maikel Garcia both had two RBIs. Alec Burleson and Nolan Gorman both homered with a pair of RBIs for St. Louis in the loss.

Noah Cameron will head to the mound to start this game for Kansas City. The right-hander is looking for his third win of the season, going into this start at 2-1. In four starts this season, his rookie year, he has a 1.05 ERA and 16 strikeouts over 25.2 innings. Cameron took on the Cincinnati Reds last week in his last start and gave up just one earned run on six hits, the most of his career, with two strikeouts over 6.1 innings.

St. Louis will continue this three-game series in the second game with Miles Mikolas on the mound. The right-hander is 4-2 in his 2025 campaign with a 3.90 ERA and 34 strikeouts over 55.1 innings. Mikolas took on the Baltimore Orioles in his last start last week, ending in a 6-4 win. He gave up four earned runs on nine hits with just three strikeouts over four innings.
