Dean Kremer stepped up in a huge way on Friday improving to 3-4 on the season with a dominant start. Kremer went seven shutout innings while only giving up three hits. The Royals were limited to just one more hit the rest of the night. The Orioles were also struggling with their offense until Ryan O’Hearn hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the seventh inning. Emmanuel Rivera would then go on to add an insurance run off an RBI single in the same inning. It was only the second time the Orioles won back-to-back games this season and they improved to 2-16 on the season when only scoring three or fewer runs.

Baltimore will look for another strong start in Game 2 tonight with Tomoyuki Sugano getting the nod tonight. The righty has had a good April with a 3-0 record and a 3.00 ERA. The Royals will counter with Kris Bubic who is 2-2 with an even better 2.25 ERA. This game is going to be a coin toss on the mound.
