Winners of 10 of their last 15 games including the first three games in their American League Central Division foes, the Detroit Tigers turn to their ace Tarik Skubal (2-2, 2.66 ERA) aiming for a sweep of the Kansas City Royals in a Sunday matinee at Comerica Park. The Tigers have held Kansas City to five runs through the first three games as Skubal looks for his third consecutive win after posting consecutive shutouts in his last two outings trucking out 15 batters over 13 innings of work. The Royals have lost eight of their last nine games and have dropped six in a row after being swept by the Yankees earlier in the week.

Last season Skubal earned his first career All-Star appearance winning the Triple Crown leading the American League in wins, ERA, and tallied the most strikeouts in all of Major League Baseball posting a career high 228 punch outs in 192 innings. Skubal, a ninth-round selection by Detroit in the 2018 MLB Draft, won 23 games in his first four seasons in the bigs before being sidelined for two months with an arm injury in 2023 and has been lights out since his return finishing 2023 with a 4-0 record and a 0.90 ERA over the seasons final month before his record setting effort in 2024.

The Royals will counter with veteran right-hander Michael Wacha (0-3, 4.35 ERA) in search of his first win of the season having failed to make it out of the sixth inning of any of his first four starts and has not been given more than three runs in support in any outing this season.

Detroit has won six games in a row against Kansas City dating back to the end of the 2024 campaign and has won four of the last five against the Royals at home.
