Logan Webb takes the mound for the Giants in search of his first win as midweek series continues in Houston against the Astros

Off a dominant 7-2 road win in the first game of the series, the San Francisco Giants return to Minute Maid Park for the second game of the series against the Houston Astros as veteran right-hander Logan Webb (0-0, 5.40 ERA) makes his second start of the season. The Astros will counter with Houston native Hayden Wesneski who will make his Astros debut after three seasons with the Chicago Cubs where he started 22 games as a spot starter and is 9-13 overall with a lifetime 3.93 ERA. The Giants offense has gotten off to a hot start scoring six runs or more in three of their first four games.

In his seventh season in the majors, Logan Webb comes into 2025 off his fourth consecutive season with 11 or more wins and is 55-42 lifetime with a 3.43 ERA. The 28-year-old Rocklin, California native is 3-1 with a 3.52 ERA and 16 strikeouts in four career starts against the Astros winning each of his last three outings including allowing just two runs over 7.2 innings of work with five strikeouts in a 4-2 Giants win back in May of 2023.

Astros second baseman Jose Altuve is off to a hot start hitting .429 with a four-game hitting streak to open the 2025 season with a pair of multi-hit games already under his belt. Altuve, who has spent his entire 15 year career with Houston, is a career .306 hitter with six 20-home run seasons in the last nine years.

San Francisco has won five of the last six meetings overall and each of the last three games played in Houston with all three of those wins coming by two or more runs.
