Riding a four-game winning streak after sweeping Houston mid-week, the San Francisco Giants make their home debut on Friday afternoon as they welcome the Seattle Mariners into AT&T Park to begin a three-game weekend interleague series. The Mariners split their season opening series with the Athletics before dropping two of three to the Tigers and now hit the road for the first time in 2025. San Francisco will send veteran right-hander Justin Verlander (0-0, 3.60 ERA) to the mound in search of his first win with the Giants after signing a one-year free agent deal back in January. Verlander struck out five batters over five innings in his Giants debut against Cincinnati last week.

Giants center fielder Heliot Ramos has had a blistering start to the 2025 season belting three home runs and driving in seven runs through his first six games posting at least one extra base hit in all six. Ramos, in his fourth season with San Francisco, had a breakout season in 2024 posting 23 doubles, 22 home runs and 72 RBIs, all career highs. The 25-year-old Puerto Rico native was a first-round selection by the Giants in 2017 but did not break into the majors until September of 2022.

Seattle will counter with right-hander Luis F. Castillo, who is making his career start in the majors after appearing in three games as a reliever with Detroit in 2022. This Castillo, not the other Luis Castillo who threw seven innings of five-hit ball against the Tigers on Wednesday, was called up from Triple-A Tacoma to make a spot start on Friday.

The Mariners have controlled this series of late winning six of the last nine meetings since the start of the 2021 season including two of three games at AT&T Park in 2023.
