In a back and forth battle in the series opener on Friday night, the Mariners took a 2-0 lead into the sixth inning. But Texas hit two doubles in the inning to tie the game at 2-2, eventually taking the lead on a Nathaniel Lowe home run in the seventh inning. However, Eugenio Saurez provided the heroics for Seattle with a two-run homer with one out off closer Joe Barlow to rally the Mariners past the Rangers by a final score of 4-3.
The Rangers host the Mariners again for game two of their three-game series on Saturday.
