The Cardinals had lost five of six heading into Saturday’s game, but they got a big 4-0 win and then followed it up with a 15-6 win on Sunday.
Sunday’s game ended with Albert Pujols taking the mound for the first time in his career. He did give up four runs, but he got the three outs and the Cardinals went home with their second straight win.
Monday they will look to get another win against a Mets team that is in first place in the NL East.
The Mets have a comfortable 5.5-game lead on the Phillies right now, but they have lost three of their last five and are coming off a series loss to the Mariners.
It has been a bit of a tough stretch for them, but they still sit at 23-13 on the season and have played well overall.
Monday they send Trevor Williams to the mound looking to bounce back from their loss on Sunday. Williams is 0-2 on the year with a 5.73 ERA. The Mets have won just one of his five starts this year.
Monday they hope they can get win number two when Williams starts as they begin their four-game set with the Cardinals.
