Division leading Tigers continue their western road trip as weekend series against the Angels begins. Watch for free on Fubo.

On a five-game losing streak and having lost 12 of their last 15 games, the Los Angeles Angels return home to Anaheim to open a four-game weekend series against the American League Central Division leading Detroit Tigers on Thursday night. The Tigers dropped two of three games in a mid-week series at Houston and have lost six of their last eight games on the road as they send veteran right-hander Casey Mize (4-1, 2.12 ERA) to the mound in search of his third win in as many starts. The Angels will start southpaw Yusei Kikuchi (0-4, 4.31 ERA) for his seventh start looking to rebound off his worst outing of the young season where he allowed four earned runs over two innings in a 5-1 road loss at Minnesota on Saturday.

With a team-high 31 hits this season, Tigers left fielder Riley Greene is hitting .261 this season and comes into Thursday with at least one hit in six of his last seven games including a stellar 4-for-4 outing on Wednesday against Houston. In his fourth season in the majors, Greene sits five runs scored away from 200 and is four home runs shy of 50 for his career. The 24-year-old Orlando, Florida native took over the everyday role in left last season posting career highs in at bats, runs scored, hits, doubles, triples, home runs and RBIs playing in 137 games.

Angels right fielder Mike Trout, who leads the team in home runs and RBIs, left Wednesday’s loss against Seattle in the fourth inning with an apparent knee injury and is questionable for Thursday’s matchup against the Tigers. Trout, in his 15th season in the majors, has missed significant time due to injuries in three of the last four seasons playing more than 80 games twice since the end of the 2019 season.

Los Angeles leads the series 7-5 since the start of the 2023 season and has won three of the last four against Detroit at home.
