On a two-game losing streak to open their 10-game road trip, the Detroit Tigers return to Minute Maid Park on Wednesday afternoon against the Houston Astros aiming to avoid their second road sweep of the young season. The Tigers will send second year right-hander Jackson Jobe (2-0, 2.70 ERA) to the mound in search of his third win in as many starts against the Astros rookie AJ Blubaugh. He will be making his Major League debut after being called up from Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday. Blubaugh was a seventh round selection by Houston in the 2022 MLB Draft, having posted 297 strikeouts in 268.1 innings of work in the minors.

Tigers first baseman Spencer Torkelson leads Detroit in runs scored, doubles, home runs, RBIs and total bases this seasonm but has been held without a hit in his last three games. In his 15th MLB season, Astros left fielder Jose Altuve has just two hits in his last four games, dropping his batting average under .300 for the first time this season. The two-time World Series Champion has hit over .300 seven times in his career and has belted 20 or more home runs six times in the last nine years.
Houston has dominated this series of late, winning eight of the last 11 meetings overall and holds a slight 4-3 edge in games played at home since Aug. 2023.
