Tarik Skubal comes into this game off his worst start of the season, where he allowed five earned runs in a 6-5 win against Boston, but struck out 11 batters, marking the third 10-plus strikeout effort in his last four starts. The 28-year-old southpaw had a breakout season in 2024, going 18-4 with a career-best 2.39 ERA in helping the Tigers return to the playoffs for the first time in a decade. Skubal won the Triple Crown last season,n leading MLB in wins, ERA, and a career-best 228 strikeouts in 192 innings.

Cardinals second baseman Brendan Donovan ranks sixth in MLB, hitting a team-leading .337 after a three-hit performance in Monday’s series opener,r scoring a pair of runs and driving in another. Donovan is hitting .343 in May had has 13 hits in his last five games with four doubles and three RBIs.

Detroit leads the series 4-3 since the start of the 2023 season, with the series tied 2-2 in St. Louis, with the Cardinals scoring 11 or more runs in each of their last two home games against the Tigers.
