Detroit will start southpaw Tarik Skubal (13-5, 2.23 ERA) who has posted another dominant season the year after winning the Triple Crown and taking home the American League Cy Young Award after posting career highs in wins and strikeouts as well as a career best 2.39 ERA in 31 outings. So far this season, Skubal is second in Major League Baseball with a 2.23 ERA having allowed one earned run or less in four of his last six starts posting 43 strikeouts in that span.

The Guardians will start third-year right-hander Gavin Williams (11-5, 3.06 ERA) who tossed five shutout innings against Detroit in his last outing on Wednesday for his third win in his last four starts.
