The Detroit Tigers look to extend their lead atop the American League Central Division as the series against the Baltimore Orioles continues on Wednesday.

Sitting on an eight-game lead in the American League Central Division and currently holding the best record in Major League Baseball, the Detroit Tigers return to Oriole Park at Camden Yards on Wednesday night in search of a third consecutive win as their series against the Baltimore Orioles continues. The Tigers will send Casey Mize (6-1, 2.91 ERA) to the mound in search of his first win in his last four outings, having failed to make it to the sixth inning in any of his last three starts. The Orioles, who have lost three of their last four games, will start veteran right-hander Zach Eflin (5-2, 4.47 ERA) off consecutive wins, having struck out 13 batters while allowing a combined three earned runs in his last two starts.

Tigers left fielder Riley Greene continues his breakout season, leading Detroit with his .280 batting average thanks to a blistering start in June where he is hitting .364 with five multi-hit games under his belt already this month. Greene, a first round pick by Detroit in the 2019 MLB Draft, is on pace to shatter his career-highs in hits, doubles, home runs and RBIs this season and comes into this game just three RBIs away from 200 for his career.

With two hits in Tuesday night’s loss, Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson leads the team with 102 total bases this season and is hitting .379 this month, having collected at least one hit in six of his last eight games. Already in his fourth season in the Majors, Henderson took home AL Rookie of the Year honors in 2023, along with a Silver Slugger Award prior to his first All-Star Game appearance last year.

The Tigers have won seven of the last eight games in this series dating back to September 2024, having swept the Orioles in Detroit back in late-April and having won three in a row in Baltimore.
