After a dreadful 16-34 start to the season, the Orioles have won 11 of their last 16 games including series sweeps of the White Sox and Mariners and will counter with right-hander Dean Kremer (5-6, 4.98 ERA) in search of his third in in four starts. The Orioles thumped Detroit on Wednesday cranking out 16 hits including a seven-run eighth inning en route to a 10-1 home win.

In his sixth season in the majors, Tigers southpaw Tarik Skubal had a breakout season in 2024 posting a career high 18 wins and 228 strikeouts on his way to his first career All-Star appearance. Skubal, a ninth-round selection by Detroit in the 2018 Draft, battled through injuries in 2022 and 2023 before establishing himself as one of the most dominant pitchers in the game winning the Cy Young award unanimously helping Detroit to their first playoff appearance in a decade.

Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson leads Baltimore with 104 total bases this season and comes into Thursday on a four-game hitting streak hitting a blistering .406 in June. The 23-year-old Montgomery, Alabama native was a second-round pick by Baltimore in 2019 who broke into the majors in 2022 taking home the AL Rookie of the Year award in 2023 and making his first career All-Star Team in 2024.

Detroit has won eight of the last 11 games in this series but are 3-6 against the Orioles in their last nine in Baltimore.
