Division foes face-off as the Minnesota Twins aim to restart their winning streak against the Cleveland Guardians on Wednesday.

Winners of six of their last eight games, the Minnesota Twins return to Progressive Field on Wednesday night for an American League Central Division tilt against the host Cleveland Guardians for the third game of their four-game mid-week series. The Guardians snapped a three-game losing streak with a narrow 2-1 win on Tuesday and are in search of their first winning streak since their season-best five-straight winning streak ended last week. The Twins will start right-hander Pablo Lopez (2-1, 2.08 ERA) who is looking for his third win in his last four starts, having allowed two earned runs or less in each of his first four outings.

Guardians left fielder Steven Kwan ranks seventh in MLB, hitting a team-leading .333 this season after his 11-game hit streak ended on Tuesday. Kwan, a fifth round pick by Cleveland in the 2018 Draft, made his first All-Star team in 2024, hitting a career-high 14 home runs and claiming his third consecutive Gold Glove. A career .288 hitter, Kwan has collected 140 hits or more each of his first three seasons in the majors.

With a team leading six home runs, Twins center fielder Byron Buxton will play in his 800th career MLB game on Wednesday. The oft injured veteran has played in 100 or more games just once in his 11-year career, appearing in 102 games last season and posting a career-high 56 RBIs while hitting .279, his second-best season at the plate.

Cleveland will start right-hander Luis Ortiz (2-3, 5.96 ERA) in his sixth start of the season, having failed to make it into the seventh inning of any outing so far this year.
