The Cleveland Guardians (55-54) climbed back over the .500 mark on Friday night by winning their third straight game and can clinch their series with the Minnesota Twins (51-58) with another victory on Saturday evening at Progressive Field in Cleveland. The Guardians remained three games back of the Seattle Mariners for the final wild card spot in the American League while Minnesota dropped its third in a row and fifth in its last six games after bringing up eight players from its Triple-A St. Paul affiliate on Friday. The Twins made seven trades before Thursday’s deadline.

Kyle Manzardo’s walkoff single with one out in the bottom of the 10th lifted Cleveland to a 3-2 win on Friday night. The Guardians led 2-0 after two innings on RBI singles from José Ramírez and Brayan Rocchio and Gavin Williams struck out eight over six scoreless innings before Minnesota tied the game with a pair of runs in the seventh.

The Twins got the game even when reliever Hunter Gaddis’ throwing error on Austin Martin’s infield single allowed two runs to score in the top of the seventh. But reliever Kody Funderburk surrendered the go-ahead run in the 10th after allowing a walk and a pair of hits. Martin was 3-for-5 in his first game with the Twins this season.

Right-hander Tanner Bibee (7-9) takes the mound for Cleveland on Saturday. In 21 starts, Bibee has a 4.39 ERA and 1.22 WHIP in 121 innings. Right-hander Bailey Ober (4-6) makes his first start for Minnesota since June 28 when he takes the hill on Saturday. In 17 starts, Ober has a 5.28 ERA and 1.41 WHIP in 92 innings.
