Off consecutive extra innings defeats, the Mariners aim to snap their losing skid as their series against the Twins continues

On a three-game losing streak and in a stretch of seven losses in their last 10 games, the Seattle Mariners head into Saturday night with just one win so far on their season longest 10-game home stand as they return to T-Mobile Park for the second game in a three-game weekend series against the Minnesota Twins. The Mariners welcome right-hander Bryce Miller (2-4, 5.22 ERA) back to the rotation after being sidelined for three weeks with an elbow issue as he looks for his first win in three starts. The Twins will counter with veteran righty Bailey Ober (4-1, 3.41 ERA) who has held opponents to just one earned run in six of his last seven outings.

After his second two-home run performance in his last four games, Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh made Major League Baseball history on Friday becoming the first catcher ever to eclipse the 20-home run mark before the start of June. Raleigh, in his fifth big league season, is on pace for his second straight 100 RBI campaign and is quickly approaching milestones as he enters Saturday four hits shy of 400 and is seven RBIs away from 300 for his career. The 28-year-old North Carolina native was a third-round pick by Seattle in the 2018 MLB Draft who cracked the 40-man roster in July of 2021.

After a slow start to the season, Twins center fielder Byron Buxton leads the team hitting .264 including a blistering .315 in May including seven multi-hit games. In his 11th season in Minnesota, Buxton has hit 10 or more home runs in each of the last seven years and is on pace for his first 100-hit season since the 2017 campaign.

Minnesota has won five of the last six meetings in this series with all five wins coming by two or more runs.
