On Tuesday the Minnesota Twins ended the Tampa Bay Rays’ six-game winning streak. Now the teams meet again on Wednesday in the rubber match in their three-game series.

Entering play on Tuesday the Tampa Bay Rays (27-27) had won six games in a row, just climbing back over the .500 mark. That winning streak included a 7-2 win in Game 1 of their three-game series at home against the Minnesota Twins (30-24) in which first baseman Jonathan Aranda went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. However the Twins put an end to that winning streak in the second game on Tuesday, with a 4-2 win that included a home run by right fielder Kody Clemens. Now, the teams will battle it out on Wednesday afternoon in a getaway day rubber match of this series at Steinbrenner Field.

This game includes a big-time pitching matchup between righties Pablo Lopez of the Twins and Drew Rasmussen of the Rays. Both pitchers come into this game with an ERA well under 3.00 for the season.

Lopez is 4-2 in nine starts this year with an ERA of 2.31 and a WHIP of just 0.97. In his last outing against the Kansas City Royals over the weekend he allowed just one run in 5.2 innings pitched.

Rasmusssen has made 10 starts, going 3-4. That record reflects the lack of run support, as teams haven’t been able to score much off of him – he has a 2.60 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in 52 innings. The 29-year-old went six innings in each of his last two starts, not allowing an earned run in either.
