The first win of this series for the Twins was all thanks to starter Joe Ryan. The righty went seven innings of shutout ball while only giving up two hits and striking out four. Ryan is now 7-0 all time against Kansas City with a 1.30 ERA in 55.1 innings. The Royals only had three hits the entire game with the bullpen also holding it down. Ryan got all the run support he needed with a RBI single in the fourth and sixth innings. Designated Hitter Matt Wallner and Ty France both hit a homer for some more insurance in the eighth and ninth innings respectively. Seth Lugo didn’t pitch poorly for the Royals but he was saddled with the loss going 5.2 innings while giving up two runs but also throwing for 109 pitches.

Michael Wacha will get the start for the home team looking for his first win of the season. He is 0-2 in his first two starts and is coming off a loss against Baltimore giving up four runs in 5.2 innings. Bailey Ober will go for Minnesota with a 0-1 record. In his opener against St. Louis he gave up eight runs in just 2.2 innings but bounced back in his last start in a no-decision against Houston going four innings while only giving up one run.
