The script to start the second game of this series started much like it has been this whole season for Minnesota. The White Sox got up 3-0 and were shutout for the first five innings. The sixth inning was where everything changed for the Twins as their offense finally woke up all with two outs. Minnesota scored five in the inning which was highlighted by a tiebreaking two-run single from Jose Miranda. Harrison Bader hit a three-run homer in the ninth for some much needed insurance. Shane Smith made his Major League debut and was doing great until the end of the sixth. He went 5.2 innings while allowing two hits and two runs.

Chicago’s pitching had been great up to the sixth inning, as their starters went 23 innings without allowing an earned run in their first four games. It’s still very early, but this White Sox team is already noticeably better than the team that lost 121 games last season. The White Sox will start Sean Burke, who went six innings, while only allowing three hits in a dominating win over the Los Angeles Angels on Opening Day. Pablo Lopez will go for the Twins in the finale after giving up eight hits and four runs in five innings in his season debut against the St. Louis Cardinals.
