The game was scoreless until the fifth inning of the game when Baltimore finally got on the board. Ramon Urias hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning to score Gunnar Henderson. Ryan Mountcastle stole home in the same inning to go up 2-0. The insurance run by Mountcastle proved to be the game winner, as Andrew Benintendi hit an RBI double in the ninth.

Davis Martin will take the mound for Chicago to start this game. The right-handed pitcher is 2-5 this season with a 3.45 ERA and just 38 strikeouts over 62.2 innings. Now in his third season in the MLB, Martin has started 11 games this season, which has been a roller coaster. He has given up two earned runs in his last two starts, with just five strikeouts over those 13.1 innings.

Battling Martin for Baltimore, Dean Kremer will be the starting pitcher for the hometown team. The right-hander is 4-5 in his 2025 campaign with a 5.02 ERA and 44 strikeouts over 61.0 innings. Kremer threw 5.1 shutout innings against the Boston Red Sox in his last start, with four strikeouts. It was a welcome outing after giving up eight runs in the two starts previous to that.
