The New York Yankees try to pull even in this series on Tuesday against the Baltimore Orioles.

The Baltimore Orioles go for the series win when they host the New York Yankees for Game 2 on Tuesday night. The Orioles ended a three-game losing streak by beating the Yankees in the opener in a close 4-3 win. Baltimore is coming off a sweep at the hands of the Detroit Tigers so this opener was a nice way for the club to change up the trajectory. New York narrowly missed winning three straight after winning its last series against the Toronto Blue Jays. This is the first series of the season between these AL East rivals. The Yankees will be the -160 favorites to tie up this series in Game 2. The even better news for New York is that it still holds the top spot in the division.

The Orioles scored all of their runs early as it held up in the win after New York scored all its runs late to nearly pull off the comeback. Ryan O’Hearn hit a three-run homer in the third inning to put the Orioles ahead for good. New York made it close though and the Yankees nearly pulled off the comeback with two doubles bringing home two runs in the eighth. But Cedric Mullins made the play of the game in the fifth when he robbed Paul Goldschmidt in deep center of what would have been a two-run homer. That could have made all the difference in this one-run game. Tomoyuki Sugano improved to 3-1 going five innings without giving up a run and striking out eight in the impressive performance for Baltimore.

Kyle Gibson will try to replicate Sugano’s performance getting the start for Baltimore on Tuesday. The righty will be getting his first start of the season for the Orioles. Gibson is back in orange and black after spending 2024 in St. Louis. Gibson played for the Orioles in 2023 where he went 15-9 and signed a one-year deal to return to the club during spring training. Carlos Rodon will try to get even tonight. The righty comes into this game with a 3-3 record and a 3.50 ERA.
