The Yankees absolutely dominated on Tuesday, scoring 15 runs on 19 hits, while the Orioles committed three errors. But it was the homers that did Baltimore in, specifically the Yankees hits six solo homers to tie up this series. Trent Grisham, Aaron Judge and Ben Rice set the tone early in this game, leading off the game with three consecutive homers. New York scored 12 runs before Baltimore scored their first run on a groundout in the sixth. Things didn’t get much better for the Orioles, as they had as many hits as they did errors. Carlos Rodon easily got the win, going six innings while only giving up two runs on two hits. Kyle Gibson had one of the worst outings of his career on a night to forget, giving up 11 hits and nine runs in just 3.2 innings.
The Yankees will try to close out this series by starting another Carlos as in Carrasco. The righty is 2-1 with a 5.26 ERA. Cade Povich is hoping to have more luck getting the start for the Orioles in the rubber match. The lefty is 1-2 with a 5.04 ERA. It seems fair to expect another slugfest in tonight’s finale.
