After a 1-0 shutout in Game 2 on Friday with Carlos Rodon throwing a two-hit shutout and Paul Goldschmidt collecting three of the Yankees’ five hits, Game 3 was a completely different story on Saturday. The Rays bounced back winning 10-8 in 10 innings to have a chance to tie the series today. The win ended a four-game losing streak for the Rays. Things weren’t looking good early for the Rays as this series looked they were going to get down in a 3-0 hole in this series very quickly. New York was up 7-1 heading into the bottom of the fourth. The Rays scored three in that inning but the scored didn’t change much until the bottom of the ninth when Tampa Bay scored four runs to tie the game. The Rays would make sure to finish the job in the 10th inning with Jonathan Aranda launching a walk-off HR for Tampa Bay. New York had been up 8-4 going into the bottom of the ninth with a 99.4 percent chance to win.

The Rays will try to tie this series by starting Ryan Pepiot who is 1-2 with a 4.91 ERA. The righty gave up six runs in six innings in his last start against the Boston Red Sox getting stuck with the loss. New York will counter and go for the series win by starting Max Fried. The former Atlanta ace has found a great new home in the Bronx with a 3-0 record and a 1.88 ERA after giving up two runs in 6.2 innings in his last start against the Kansas City Royals. The Yankees have won all four games he has started. New York will need Fried to step up big especially with its ace Gerrit Cole out.
