The New York Yankees will start their ace Max Fried to try to avoid a series sweep against the Boston Red Sox on Sunday.

The Boston Red Sox look to put an exclamation point on this series at home with a potential sweep of the New York Yankees on the table on Sunday. This series has lived up to the hype of these historic rivals, with both of the first two games being decided by one run. Boston won both, but it took 10 innings in the opener to win 2-1 on Friday, and then the Red Sox followed that up on Saturday to win the series with a 4-3 victory. Boston has now won four games in a row as the Red Sox climb back in the AL East standings. New York still leads the division, though, with a comfortable 7.5-game lead over Boston. That is likely why the Yankees are the -190 favorite to win this finale even on the road this afternoon.

It was the Hunter Dobbins show on Saturday, propelling the Red Sox to the series victory. The righty improved to 4-1 after pitching six strong innings, where he didn’t give up a run and only gave up two hits while striking out five. It was the second time this week that Dobbins beat the Yankees. That game came in the finale in the Bronx, where Boston won 11-9 in the rubber match to win that first series of the season against the Yankees. The Red Sox got off a 4-0 lead, but the bullpen nearly let the Yankees come back and complete the upset.

New York is going to be the easy favorite in the finale today, mostly because of its starter Max Fried, who is arguably the best pitcher in the first half this season. Fried is 9-1, which leads the majors, and his 1.84 ERA is fourth in the league. The Red Sox will counter Brayan Bello, who is 2-1 with a 3.96 ERA. It seems fitting that the finale should be another tight pitcher’s duel.
