With the two American League foes beginning a weekend three-game series at Target Field, the Minnesota Twins host the Boston Red Sox in game one in Minneapolis on Friday night. Following a series sweep of the White Sox earlier this week, Minnesota enters the weekend as the hottest team in baseball with 10 consecutive wins. The Twins rattled off 10-straight with seven wins over the White Sox and a three-game sweep over the Angels. Minnesota is now 17-13 on the season, three games back of the Guardians for first place in the AL Central. Boston, on the other hand, had a strong home stand as they sit at 18-14 in the early going. Most recently, the Twins offense rallied late to secure a 10-5 victory over the White Sox on Wednesday. Max Kepler and Jose Miranda hit run-scoring singles in the seventh inning to give the Twins the lead, with Miranda finishing the game with two RBIs.
As for Boston, the Red Sox couldn’t sweep the Giants at Fenway Park with a 3-1 loss in the series finale on Thursday. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for Boston, who now turns to Houck, who has an outstanding 1.60 ERA through six starts.
