The Kansas City Royals (24-17) look to bounce back after a loss and close out this series with the Los Angeles Angels (15-25) with a 3-1 series win. They took the first two games of the series showing their flexibility with a 10-4 win and then a 2-1 win to kick off the series. Los Angeles bounced back to take game three 9-3 and now have the opportunity to close out the series with a tie and, for the first time this season, win or tie back-to-back series. This season has been a struggle for Los Angeles after losing Shohei Ohtani in the off-season and having Mike Trout undergo surgery earlier this month on his left knee.

They have the opportunity to rally around the team that is available on the roster starting today with left-handed pitcher Patrick Sandoval (2-5, 4.85 ERA) making his ninth start of the season. He faces off with Kansas City’s veteran right-hander Seth Lugo (5-1, 1.74 ERA) who is off to a Cy Young caliber start to the regular season.
In Kansas City’s two wins they used big bats and then elite pitching to earn the first two games. Game one saw Dairon Blanco fuel the offense with three hits, including a two-run home run to get the offense rolling in a 10-4 win. Then in game two Adam Frazier ended an eight run scoreless start to the game with a two-run home run in the ninth to steal victory from the jaws of defeat.
Los Angeles picked up a win in the third game of the series behind a second inning Jo Adell home run with two on to get the offense rolling for the first time this series. Early offense will be big again today for Los Angeles to finish this series with a 2-2 tie.
