Texas snapped a six-game skid with a walk-off win over San Francisco, and now the Rangers need to build on that momentum against a Giants club that has shed significant talent at the deadline but hasn’t stopped competing. At 56-58, Texas sits 2.5 games back in the AL West and is fighting to stay relevant in both the division and wild-card races. San Francisco, 21 games back at 48-66, is playing out the string with a reshuffled roster — but that doesn’t mean they’re easy outs.

Jung Hoo Lee has been one of the most consistent hitters in the Giants’ lineup all season, batting .305 with 8 home runs, 43 RBI, and 120 hits. He’s the kind of player who can carry an offense on a given night. For Texas, Wyatt Langford (.264, 13 HR, 31 RBI) has been a steady presence, and Ezequiel Duran — who delivered the decisive blow in the Rangers’ last win — gives the lineup a dangerous middle-of-the-order threat with 51 runs scored on the season.

Game Preview

Texas is 2.5 games out in the AL West and cannot afford to let winnable games slip away at home, where they’ve gone 29-26. The Rangers went 3-7 over their last ten games, a stretch that included a six-game losing streak, and the margin for error in a tight division race is shrinking. San Francisco has no postseason path at 21 games back, but they’ve gone 4-6 over their last ten and showed in their most recent win — behind Logan Webb’s six shutout innings — that they can beat contenders on any given night.

What to Watch For

Casey Schmitt has quietly put together one of the more productive seasons on a Giants team in transition, hitting .271 with 21 home runs, 55 RBI, and 105 hits. With several key contributors now elsewhere following the trade deadline, Schmitt’s production becomes even more central to how San Francisco generates offense. He’s on the injured list with a leg issue, however, which opens the door for others to step up. Bryce Eldridge (.256, 11 HR, 28 RBI) has shown flashes of power and figures to carry more responsibility in the lineup.

On the Texas side, the injury report is significant. Josh Jung, Kyle Higashioka, Jack Leiter, and Danny Jansen are all unavailable, thinning both the infield and the catching depth. That puts more weight on players like Nicky Lopez (.285) and Justin Foscue (.252, 7 HR, 19 RBI) to hold the lineup together. Corey Seager (.201, 10 HR, 25 RBI) has been below his usual standard at the plate and a bounce-back performance from him would go a long way toward stabilizing a Rangers offense that has been inconsistent during their recent rough stretch.
