The A’s go for the series sweep on Sunday against the Rangers.
The Oakland Athletics are off to a good start after the All-Star break, going 3-1 and winning the first two games of this series against the Texas Rangers. They’ve won four of their last five and beat the Houston Astros twice in three games before the break. Much of that success has come due to their pitching staff, which has given up five runs over the last three games.

The pitching was on full display in the 3-1 win against the Rangers on Saturday when James Kaprielian went five innings, only giving up two hits and no runs. The bullpen held it down the rest of the way. Oakland scored in the sixth for the first run of the game off a fielding error by Texas. The A’s scored their two other runs on sac flies and only had one earned run, but still managed to pull off the victory.
Now they’ll go for the series sweep by starting Paul Blackburn, who is 6-5 with a 3.62 ERA. The Rangers have just the guy to get get them a victory in Martin Perez, who is coming off his first All-Star nod. He is 7-2 with a 2.68 ERA.
