The Houston Astros look to close out just their 2nd sweep of the season when they take on the Texas Rangers on Sunday

The Houston Astros (19-28) try to close out a Lone Star Series sweep on Sunday when they host the Texas Rangers (21-24) at Daikin Park in Houston. The Astros took the first two games of the three-game set, but the injury-riddled club braces for more bad news on the health front as second baseman Jose Altuve heads for an MRI on Sunday after leaving Sunday night’s win with soreness in his left side after an awkward swing. Meanwhile, Texas shortstop Corey Seager — locked in a career-worst 0-for-27 slump — missed Saturday night’s game with back spasms after taking a scheduled off day on Friday.

Houston rode four solo home runs off Jacob deGrom on Saturday night to a 4-1 victory. Altuve led off the game with a shot to left field before Yordan Alvarez went deep later in the inning. Christian Walker and Zach Cole added homers in the fourth inning while Kai-Wei Teng worked five scoreless innings, striking out seven, before handing the game over to the bullpen.

The Rangers got their lone run on Joc Pederson’s RBI single in the seventh as deGrom missed in his first opportunity to pick up his 100th career win. Saturday night marked just the second time in 257 career starts he’d surrendered four home runs, the first since April 22, 2017, against the St. Louis Cardinals. He allowed just one other hit over six innings.

Right-hander Peter Lambert (2-3) tries to secure the sweep on Sunday for the Astros. He comes in with a 2.76 ERA and 1.125 WHIP in five starts and 29.1 innings. Texas gives the ball to veteran right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (4-4), who sports a 4.15 ERA and 1.175 WHIP in eight starts and 47.2 innings this season.
