After the Tigers avoided a sweep on Tuesday, they’ll go for a series split with the Royals when the two teams meet on Wednesday.
The Tigers may not have had things going during Monday’s doubleheader against the Royals, but they bounced back with a win on Tuesday. Now, they’ll look to salvage a two-two split in the series finale on Wednesday.

Kansas City’s pitching staff turned in a dominant performance on Monday, holding the Tigers to just four runs total between the two games. Detroit’s lineup woke up Tuesday though, scoring seven runs on 11 hits in a 7-5 win.
Four of Detroit’s hitters had multi-hit games in that one, including shortstop Javy Baez who went 2-for-5 with two doubles. Designated hitter Miguel Cabrera contributed without recording a hit, still managing to drive in a pair of runs.
Detroit will turn to lefty Tarik Skubal for the start on Wednesday. He’s made 17 starts this year and boasts a 3.99 ERA and 1.19 WHIP with 97 strikeouts in 94.2 innings.
Kansas City will have 2018 first-round pick Brady Singer on the mound. Singer picked up a quality start in his last outing, allowing three runs on six hits in seven innings against the Guardians.
