As Major League Baseball comes out of the All-Star Break, there’s a big series in the American League. The top two teams in the AL, the Yankees and Astros, will play a doubleheader on Thursday in Houston.

The Yankees still have the best record in the American League; they are 64-28 at the break. However, they stumbled heading into this past weekend and are 8-7 in their last 15.
That’s opened the door for the Astros to gain some ground. They’re 14-5 in their last 19 games, bringing their record to 59-32. The gap between the two teams is now just 4.5 games.
Each of these teams had players end up being factors in the All-Star Game on Tuesday. Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton was named the game’s MVP after hitting a two-run home run, and Astros lefty Framber Valdez earned the win, throwing a scoreless third inning.
