The new season brings significant changes to the truck series, most significantly the return to “The Chase” postseason format that was in place from 2004-13 when NASCAR introduced a postseason. The idea is to create a larger sample size for determining the championship, add importance to each event on the schedule and reward consistency while still making winning a priority. Qualifying for the Fresh From Florida 250 was held earlier on Friday.

Defending series champion Corey Heim switched to a part-time schedule this season and won’t defend his title. Ram returns as a manufacturer for the first time since 2012, while three-time series champion Matt Crafton dropped from full-time to part-time driving after a run from 2001-25 on the series. Meanwhile, Daniel Dye, Justin Hailey and Christian Eckes have returned to the series full-time.

A pair of rookies join the circuit as well, with Cole Butcher and 2025 ARCA Menards Series champion Brenden Queen picking up rides.

Heim won last year’s race at Daytona under caution ahead of Giovanni Ruggiero, the first of his 12 race victories last season. Ruggiero is the top finisher from 2025 in the field this year while 2021 winner Ben Rhodes and 2020 victor Grant Enfinger look to join the three multiple winners of the event. Johnny Sauter took the checkered flag in 2013, 2016 and 2018, while Todd Bodine (2008-09) and Zane Smith (2022-23) each went back-to-back.
