Denny Hamlin is coming off a win at the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway last week.
Entering this race, Chase Elliot (489 points) is at the top of the NASCAR Cup Series standings.
Ross Chastain (455) and Kyle Busch (452) are right there at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots in a great position to keep moving up the standings as the season hits the back half of the schedule leading to the playoffs.
With Denny Hamlin’s win at the Coca-Cola 600, there are now three drivers with multiple wins through 14 races.
Chastain, William Byron and Hamlin have all won two races to keep them all in either the top 10 or top 20 this season.
This is the first running of the Enjoy Illinois 300, so there is no history or legacy at this race or on this track for the drivers to lean on heading into the weekend. These practices are going to be crucial to getting a feel for the race and creating advantages.
