The NASCAR Cup Series races into Lincoln, Alabama for the Jack Link’s 500. This is the 10th race of the regular season leaving just three more weeks until All-Star Weekend and seven more races before the playoffs begin. William Byron holds the points lead through the first nine races, but the last four weeks have belonged to Denny Hamlin and Kyle Larson. Those two have won the last four races, splitting two a piece, with Larson coming off a win in the last NASCAR Cup Series race. That has been the theme of the season this year. Christopher Bell won three races in a row early in the season followed by Hamlin and Larson winning two each heading into the Jack Link’s 500.

Zane Smith will lead the field into the race after winning the pole. This is Smith’s first pole in the NASCAR Cup Series. So far this season ninth place has been the best finish for Smith with two top five finishes last season in his first full year in the circuit.

Last year Tyler Reddick won this race with Brad Keselowski, Noah Gragson, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Alex Bowman rounding out the top five. That was Reddick’s first win on this track, which has been sort of a trend in recent years.

In six of the last eight races here on Talladega Superspeedway a new driver crossed the finish line for a first time win. Only five drivers this century have won this race multiple times creating a lot of excitement every year heading into the Jack Link’s 500.
