Shane van Gisbergen starts on the pole as 18 hopefuls vie for 2 open spots in Sunday’s NASCAR All-Star Race

Twenty drivers are already locked into the NASCAR All-Star Race on Sunday night at the venerable North Wilkesboro Speedway in North Carolina. But before the green flag goes down on the main event, 18 drivers will compete in the 100-lap All-Star Open earlier on Sunday fighting for two spots in the All-Star Race. Shane van Gisbergen topped the qualifiers on Friday night for the All-Star Open and will start inside of Carson Hocevar for the run around the 0.625-mile short oval. This marks the third consecutive season North Wilkesboro has hosted NASCAR’s All-Star weekend.
