The race to make the top 12 after this week sees rookie Shane van Gisbergen on the bubble with a 40-point lead over Sam Meyer for the final spot. With three wins in a five-race span, van Gisbergen rocketed up the points standings putting the New Zealand native in prime position to advance in his first trip to Bristol.
Four of the last nine fall races at Bristol have gone past the scheduled 300 laps, most recently in 2021 when A.J. Allmendinger earned the overtime win leading only one lap as he took the checkered flag beating out Austin Cindric on his way to his first series title.
Chevrolets have dominated the fall race at Bristol taking to victory lane five of the last six years with JR Motorsports drivers Justin Allgaier and Noah Gragson winning each of the last two events.
No driver has won back-to-back Bristol races since Kyle Busch took the checkered flag for Joe Gibbs Racing in 2010 and 2011, the first of his five wins in this event.
