Here is a rundown of all the NBA Summer League games on Friday:
Milwaukee Bucks vs Phoenix Suns (4:00 p.m. ET, NBA TV)
Two contending teams this season, the Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns won’t have many elite talents on their Summer League rosters, as they simply lack the first-round draft capital. But they do have some interesting names on each team, so be sure to tune into this game if you want to see potential future rotation players for the Bucks and Suns ahead of the 2024-25 season.
Dallas Mavericks vs Boston Celtics (4:30 p.m. ET, ESPN U)
A rematch of the NBA Finals, albeit with a small fraction of the stakes today, the Dallas Mavericks take on the Boston Celtics on Friday at 4:30 p.m. ET on ESPN U. The Celtics will continue to try out former second-round pick Jordan Walsh, a potential piece for the future. The Dallas Mavericks also have some interesting names on their Summer League team, so be sure to tune in to watch players who could one day see regular-season minutes for these two contenders.
Atlanta Hawks vs Chicago Bulls (6:00 p.m. ET, NBA TV)
This matchup between the Atlanta Hawks and Chicago Bulls lost some interest when it was announced No. 1 pick Zaccharie Risacher would sit out this matchup. Making this matchup even less interesting is the fact the French forward will miss out the chance to face up with No. 11 pick Matas Buzelis, who is playing with a chip on his shoulder after falling out of the Top 10 after once being discussed as the potential No. 1 pick. He has performed well in the Summer League so far, too, giving Bulls fans some hope for the future.
Philadelphia 76ers vs San Antonio Spurs (8:30 p.m. ET, NBA TV)
The Philadelphia 76ers and San Antonio Spurs face off in an exciting Summer League matchup between two highly drafted, highly thought of guard prospects in Stephon Castle of the Spurs, the No. 4 pick of the 2024 draft, and former Duke standout Jared McCain, who has shown throughout Summer League that he’s got great moves off of TikTok, too. This will be a great measuring stick showdown for both top prospects, and two players who should see minutes in the upcoming regular season for both teams.
Golden State Warriors vs Oklahoma City Thunder (10:30 p.m., NBC Sports Bay Area Plus)
With the Golden State Warriors shutting down Brandin Podziemski and Trayce Jackson-Davis for the rest of Summer League, this matchup has lost some interest as the team takes on the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday. It was surprising to see Podziemski and Jackson-Davis get as much playing time as they did to begin with, since both project to be potential starters for Golden State this season. The Thunder’s Summer League don’t feature many players who will be expected to get minutes for Oklahoma City’s loaded roster this season.
Portland Trail Blazers vs Charlotte Hornets (11:00 p.m. ET, ESPN2)
On the other hand, two teams with some exciting prospects that should see action on Friday night are the Portland Trail Blazers and Charlotte Hornets. The Blazers feature No. 7 overall pick Donovan Clingan, the back-to-back national champion at UConn and a shot-blocking menace down low. The Hornets, meanwhile, could feature No. 6 overall pick Tidjane Salaun tonight, a great test for the two young, blossoming big men who could be eventual starters on the teams that drafted them.
