The first game of this second-round series between the Boston Celtics (1-0) and Cleveland Cavaliers (0-1) was the fifth win this postseason for Boston by 14-plus points. Boston got out to another strong start, scoring 40 points in the first quarter and building a 10-point lead at the half. Jaylen Brown and Derrick White led the way for Boston in their Game 1 win continuing the teams dominance at home this season. This season Boston won its first 20 games at home, went 37-4 during the regular season and a combined 40-5 between the regular season and the playoffs in the TD Garden. Donovan Mitchell and Cleveland will need to play their best game of the playoffs to avoid falling down 0-2 in the Eastern Conference Semifinals today.

In Game 1 Mitchell finished with 33 points, six rebounds and five assists shooting 12-25 from the field, 4-11 from three and 5-5 from the free-throw line. The rest of the team finished with a combined 62 points, 14 assists and went 7-31 from three in the 25 point loss.
For Boston, it dominated on the glass and shooting from three to come out with a win to start the series. They went 18-46 (39.1%) from three and outrebounded Cleveland by 17 allowing just seven total offensive rebounds. Despite missing Kristaps Porzingis for the first game Boston was sharp from the outside and controlled the glass all game.
In the win Brown led the way with 32 points and six rebounds going 12-18 from the field (4-6 from three) scoring efficiently and at will. White added 25 points and five assists shooting 7-12 from three showing the depth of Boston with Porzingis out, Jayson Tatum (18 points) and Jrue Holiday (14 points) combining for just 32 points.
