The Sacramento Kings go for their third straight win when they host the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday.

The Sacramento Kings will host the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday night for the first matchup of the season between these non-conference foes. The Kings are going for their third win in a row after losing three in a row. Sacramento no longer holds the league’s worst record going into this game. That dubious distinction now goes to the Indiana Pacers, who are 15-50, compared to the Kings’ 16-50. Sacramento still is in last place in the Western Conference. The Hornets are one of the hottest teams in the league in the second half, but they narrowly avoided losing three games in a row in their last game against the Portland Trail Blazers. The Hornets got back to .500 with the victory, but they are still in the final play-in spot, 10th in the Eastern Conference standings. Regardless, the Hornets will be heavy favorites tonight with a 12.5-point line in their favor to win Game 1 against the Kings. The Game 2 finale in Charlotte will commence on March 24.

The Kings avoided the worst record in the league by beating the Pacers 114-109 in a comeback victory on Tuesday. Devin Carter went absolutely off in the fourth quarter to lead the rally for the Kings. Indiana had a 97.8 percent chance of winning at its peak, leading 75-56 late in the third. But Sacrmaneto outscored Indiana 42-27 in the fourth quarter thanks to Carter scoring 22 of his 24 career-high points in the final frame. It overshadowed a game-high 29 points by Indiana’s Aaron Nesmith. Sacramento avoided the season-series sweep in the finale in the process. Maxime Raynaud hit a jumper and was fouled with 16 seconds remaining to clinch the victory, on a night where he put up 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Both Sacramento and Charlotte will be playing on back-to-back nights in this game. The Hornets are coming off a nail-biter, beating the Trail Blazers 103-101 on Tuesday. Sacramento wasn’t the only team to have a huge comeback on Tuesday. Brandon Miller had a team-high 23 points and eight rebounds, and LaMelo Ball scored 12 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter to help Charlotte rebound from a 19-point deficit. Charlotte held the Trail Blazers to just 19 in the fourth quarter. The Hornets can’t take this Kings team for granted, especially on the road tonight.
