The Dallas Mavericks (3-2) are in a position today to close out this first round series with the Los Angeles Clippers (2-3) and upset a once-vaunted, championship contender in the Western Conference. Los Angeles will be without All-Star Kawhi Leonard again today, putting the pressure on Paul George and James Harden to pull off the road win in Dallas here in Game 6. The teams split the first two games in Dallas this series. In Game 3 Dallas won convincingly (101-90) and then nearly pulled off a historic comeback in Game 4 before Los Angeles was able to close it out down the stretch (116-111). This is an opportunity for Luka Doncic and Dallas to win their first playoff series against this George-Leonard led Los Angeles group after losing the first two series in 2020 and 2021.

Luka has also shown to be one of the best players in close out games in recent years. He is 2-2 in games that could end a series, both losses coming in the same series against Los Angeles in 2021. Since then he has won two straight averaging 29.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game.
In this series Dallas success has come down to the play of Doncic, Kyrie Irving and role players stepping up. Through five games Doncic is averaging 30.2 points, 9.2 rebounds and 8.8 assists per game while Irving is quietly playing great with 25.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game on 50-42-91 shooting splits.
Irving has found his rhythm with Doncic, much like with LeBron James back in his Cleveland Cavaliers days as the most dynamic Robin next to a heliocentric playmaker setting the stage for Dallas to advance with a win today in Game 6 of this first round series with the Los Angeles.
