The St. Louis Cardinals host the Milwaukee Brewers as the Brew Crew tries to keep hold of their slim NL Central lead.
These two NL Central rivals face off for the first time this season as the St. Louis Cardinals host the Milwaukee Brewers for a weekend series. The Cardinals come back home after a six-game road trip and they are trying to get back to .500 with a win here tonight. Milwaukee is actually the slight -120 favorite on the road in the opener. St. Louis is coming off a series victory against the Oakland Athletics but are coming off a 6-3 loss on Wednesday just missing the sweep. St. Louis took a brief lead in the fourth scoring three runs headlined by a Willson Contreras RBI double but that is all they scored in the game. The Cardinals will try to bounce back by starting Kyle Gibson tonight. The righty is 1-2 this season with a 6.16 ERA.

Milwaukee will definitely have the advantage on the mound tonight with its probable pitcher being Freddy Peralta. The righty is 2-0 with a 2.55 ERA and has 26 strikeouts in 17.2 innings. Also Milwaukee’s offense is astounding so far this season with the entire club hitting .277. They recently broke up a mini slump after losing three in a row, the Brewers beat the San Diego Padres 1-0 on Wednesday to avoid a sweep at home. The only run of the game came in the eighth inning after Blake Perkins hit an RBI single. It was a big upset because San Diego Michael King went 7.2 innings while only giving up two hits and striking out 10. Let’s see if this offense can get back to normal against a divisional foe.
