Cade Cunningham and the Detroit Pistons host the defending champion Boston Celtics during the opening week of the season.

The Boston Celtics (2-0) have picked up where they left off after winning the NBA Championship with back-to-back wins to start the season. They have looked like a juggernaut on offense again scoring 127.0 points per game. Boston tied an NBA record with 29 made three-pointers in the season-opener and then followed that up with Jayson Tatum and Jayen Brown combining for 52 points. They continue a very road-heavy start to the season against the Detroit Pistons who started off the season with a loss to the Indiana Pacers. In that loss, Cade Cunningham played great and Detroit looked a lot better with a bevy of veteran shooters on the roster this season.

Last season Boston swept the season series including an overtime thriller that became the last loss in a historic losing streak for Detroit. The Boston scoring machine had at least one 30-plus point scorer in all three games between Tatum, Brown and Kristaps Porzingis.

Through two games this season Boston has five players averaging double-figures and three players averaging over 20 points per game. Tatum is leading the team with 31.0 points per game with Brown adding 25.0 points per game and Derrick White up to 21.5 points per game. If that holds for White, it would be a career-high for the eight-year veteran.

This game is the second night of a back-to-back for Detroit. In their first game of the season against Indiana the team was led by Cunningham with 28 points and eight assists. The offense looked a lot more effective with six total players finishing in double-figures scoring.
