The Bucks pulled the stunner of the offseason, opting to stretch the remaining $112.6 million due to injured star Damian Lillard over the next five years in order to create the necessary cap space to sign big man Myles Turner from the Indiana Pacers in free agency. Miami, meanwhile, moved on from Duncan Robinson by acquiring Norman Powell from the LA Clippers for veterans Kyle Anderson and Kevin Love.

Superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo practiced with Milwaukee on Saturday, his first workout since returning to the U.S. following a bout with COVID-19. The Bucks finished fifth in the Eastern Conference last season before losing to Indiana in a five-game first round playoff series. Also gone from that club are guard Pat Connaughton (traded to the Charlotte Hornets) and center Brook Lopez (signed with the Clippers). The club retained fan favorite Bobby Portis and rotation pieces Gary Trent Jr. and Taurean Prince.

The Heat lost their preseason opener on Saturday night to the Orlando Magic in San Juan, Puerto Rico, 126-118, one day after signing forward Nikola Jović to a four-year, $62.4 million rookie extension. Miami came from the 10th spot in the Eastern Conference play-in to earn the No. 8 seed, but was swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round. Playmayer Kasparas Jakučionis from Illinois will need time to develop after the Heat took him with the 20th overall pick while they brought back wing Precious Achiuwa and acquired wing Simone Fontecchio in a trade with the Detroit Pistons.

Milwaukee will play four preseason games before opening the regular campaign at home against the Washington Wizards on Oct. 22. Miami has six warmup games scheduled before visiting the Magic on Oct. 22.
