Sacramento avoided losing five in a row with a win over Memphis on Monday. This will be the first game of the season between the Kings and Cavs. Sacramento will try to avoid dropping back to .500 with a loss tonight. The Kings sit in ninth in the West and are four games back of the LA Clippers. With these last two losses for Cleveland, it has dropped into a tie for the best record in the NBA with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Kings beat the Memphis Grizzlies 132-122 in their last game with Malik Monk leading the team with 28 points. Sacramento was able to overcome a monster night from Desmond Bane, who had a game-high 44 points. The biggest news of the night though was Sacramento losing center Domontas Sabonis to injury. He got a cut over his left eye after being hit by Luke Kennard’s head. He came back in the game, but then left for good after rolling his ankle. Sabonis is listed as out for this game, which will be a huge blow. He is listened as not to return until the end of the month.
Cleveland is coming off back-to-back losses for the first time since the end of January after losing 132-119 to the Clippers on Tuesday. Kawhi Leonard was too much for the Cavs, leading the game with 34 points. Max Strus led the Cavaliers with a season-high 24 points. Cleveland came out extremely hot with 45 points in the first quarter and led by as much as 12, but the Clippers were able to rally back. The Cavaliers still have a lot of breathing room in the East with a 6.5-game lead over the defending champion Boston Celtics.
