The Cleveland Cavaliers look to take a 3-0 season series lead against their division rivals in the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday.

It feels like we’ve been through a decade in the last couple of days when it comes to the NBA trade deadline. But the Cleveland Cavaliers are staying pat as the first team to win 40 games this season. Now they will travel to take on the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night for this division rivalry. Cleveland is playing on back-to-back nights after taking on the Boston Celtics on Tuesday night in a rare loss. The 112-105 loss against Boston was just Cleveland’s 10th of the season.

At this rate, the Cavs’ matchup against Boston feels like a preview of the Eastern Conference Finals. With the win on Tuesday, Boston now leads the season series 2-1. The loss ended a four-game winning streak for Cleveland. Jayson Tatum scored 22 points while Derrick White tacked on 20 to hold off Cleveland. That was despite Donovan Mitchell scoring a game-high 31 points. A surprising stat was that All-Star Evan Mobley only had seven points while missing 11 shots. Mobley has recently returned from a calf injury so the All-Star break might be opportune timing for the power forward. Expect a bounce back game from him as well.

Detroit is coming off a tough 132-130 loss on Monday against the Atlanta Hawks at home. Trae Young hit the dagger with a 23-foot shot to go up a bucket with 1.6 seconds left in regulation. It was part of his 17 points in the fourth of his game-high 34 points. The win ended an eight-game losing streak for the Hawks. Cade Cunningham characteristically had another good night scoring 30 points and adding 14 assists. Cunningham was not able to get off a potential game-winning shot. Detroit is trying for its first win of the season against the Cavaliers tonight.
