The Boston Celtics will go for their third win in a row on the road taking on the Philadelphia 76ers in this primetime Sunday night matchup.

The Philadelphia 76ers are trying to go up 2-0 in this series against the defending champs when they host the Boston Celtics on Sunday night. The first game between these division rivals came on Christmas Day when the Sixers won by four points with Joel Embiid hitting a couple of free throws to secure the win in the final seconds. Philadelphia has had an off start to the season with many injuries to its star players but it is starting to play a lot better recently. After losing seven games in a row, the 76ers won four straight and even in a loss in their last game put in a tremendous effort. Philadelphia dropped at home on Friday in a 137-134 loss against the Denver Nuggets.

In a theme all too familiar the past few seasons, defending MVP Nikola Jokic was just too much to handle. Jokic scored 28 points, 13 assists and nine rebounds just missing a triple-double. The Joker hit the tie-breaking three pointer with just 39 seconds left. Tyrese Maxey was absolutely stellar though too scoring a game-high 42 points. It was his 13th game in a row where he has scored at least 28 points and fourth in a row with 30 or more. He scored a game-high 33 points on Christmas Day against the Celtics. Expect another huge outing from Maxey once against against Boston, especially with Joel Embiid and Paul George not expected to return to the lineup until Feb. 4.

Boston is going for its third win in a row and its fourth in its last five outings. The Celtics are coming off a very close win against the struggling New Orleans Pelicans on Friday by a 118-116 final. Boston shot 50 percent from the field and no shot was more important than the jumper that Jayson Tatum hit with just .7 seconds left in the game to clinch the victory. Boston was able to hold off the Pelicans despite 40 points from Trey Murphy III. The Celtics were led by 28 from Jaylen Brown. The Celtics should still be the favorite against the 76ers despite being the visitors.
