Can the Cleveland Cavaliers become the first team to win 30 games this season today against the Dallas Mavericks?

In what should be an exciting contest, the Dallas Mavericks will host the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight at American Airlines Center. This will be a game in which Kyrie Irving will get to play against one of his former teams, which can always result in an offensive explosion. The Cavaliers remain the best team in the NBA with a record 29-4 thus far. They have taken a significant step forward this season and appear to be a true contender. Cleveland boasts a loaded roster with the ability to make things happen on both ends. Following a trip to the NBA Finals last season, the Mavericks are also a contender. With that in mind, suspensions and injuries have resulted in temporary struggles of late, which is why Dallas has dropped three in a row. The Mavs are now 20-14 and sitting fifth in the Western Conference.

Luka Doncic will be sidelined for the foreseeable future with a calf injury, putting additional pressure on his teammates. Even then, Dallas has the talent to at least stay afloat in his absence, but this will arguably be the Mavs’ toughest test of the season. Donovan Mitchell has led the way for the Cavs this season, while Evan Mobley continues to emerge and Darius Garland has become a premier floor general.  

Following this contest, the Mavericks will head to Memphis to take on the Grizzlies on Monday. Meanwhile, the Cavaliers will host the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday.
