The Charlotte Hornets host the LA Clippers without LaMelo Ball on Friday.

The Los Angeles Clippers and Charlotte Hornets tip off for the first time this season on Friday night. This game was originally scheduled on January 11 and was supposed to be the second game between these clubs but it was postponed because of the wildfires in the LA area. The Clippers are starting to get healthier with the return of Kawhi Leonard and that was apparent in their 128-116 win on the road against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday. Leonard led the team with 27 points and Norman Powell put up the same amount to secure the comfortable victory.

LA went on a dominant 15-2 run in the final minutes to create some breathing room that San Antonio could never overcome. It helped considerably that the Clippers shot 50 percent from three-point range. LA will now go for its fourth win in five games tonight. The Clippers are the considerable favorites to do so with a -13.5-point line in their favor despite being on the road.

Charlotte is coming off a 104-83 loss to the Brooklyn Nets at home on Wednesday for its fourth loss in five games. Miles Bridges had a game-high 23 points but the Hornets couldn’t get much else going in a dominant defensive performance by Brooklyn. Charlotte was held to just 34 percent shooting and 27 percent from three. The win snapped a seven-game losing streak for the Nets. It obviously didn’t help that the Hornets were without starters LaMelo Ball, Mark Williams, Brandon Miller and Josh Green. Ball is expected to be out for at least a week with an ankle sprain he suffered on Monday against the Los Angeles Lakers.
