The Los Angeles Lakers play on back-to-back nights when they host their inter-city rival in the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday.

The battle for Los Angeles commences Friday night from the crypto.com Arena when the Los Angeles Lakers host the LA Clippers. This series is tied going into the third of four games this season. The Clippers won the season opener comfortably, but the Lakers came back with a resounding 122-97 win at the beginning of this month on the road in Inglewood. The Lakers are starting to heat up with Luka Doncic looking more comfortable on his new team. They will go for their fifth win in a row tonight. Even with that run, surprisingly the Clippers are the slight 3.5-point favorite technically on the road tonight.

The Lakers’ last three wins all came against teams with playoff aspirations, with their most recent coming against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday night by a 111-102 final. LeBron James took over leading the game with 33 points and a season-high 17 rebounds. Austin Reeves scored 23 and Doncic had a great game also, scoring 21 points and adding 13 rebounds. Los Angeles looks like it’s on a mission going 14-3 since Jan. 21. It’s curious why they aren’t the favorite at home tonight.

The Clippers are formidable in their own right, though holding on to the sixth seed in the West. LA ended a three-game losing streak by beating the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday, 122-117 on the road. James Harden looked like his vintage self leading all scorers with 30 points and hitting seven three-pointers. The Clippers were brilliant from behind the three-point arc shooting 51.4 percent. Kawhi Leonard was in the lineup and scored 17 points. They’ll need their MVP to pull off this upset against their biggest rival.
