The Detroit Pistons travel to Brooklyn on Wednesday hoping to make it two wins in as many outings against the Nets this season.

After losing twice in as many visits to Brooklyn last season, the Detroit Pistons are on the verge of beating the Nets twice on their own turf in the same season for the first time in seven years. The Eastern Conference rivals will stare one another down at the Barclays Center on Wednesday. The Pistons have amassed an even 18-18 record and sit fourth in the Central Division (seventh in the Eastern overall), while 13-23 Brooklyn is at risk of becoming irrelevant in the playoff conversation.

That’s unless the Nets can enact a resurgence in the coming weeks, having won just one of their past six games and looking increasingly likely to miss out on Top 10 status in their conference.

That form is in stark contrast to a Pistons team that is currently riding a four-game winning streak and showed serious mettle to keep that run alive with a 118-115 win over Portland on Monday.

Cade Cunningham has been a menace for Detroit this season and has continued to demonstrate his value early on in the 2025 calendar. Arguably his highlight of the year to date was a 40-point and nine-assist outing against the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he also set up an Ausar Thompson score in ridiculous fashion.

Cunningham came close to replicating that output with 32 points and nine assists against the Trail Blazers, who are 8-8 at home this season.

The Nets are 5-11 in front of a home crowd, meanwhile, and haven’t tasted victory at the Barclays Center since all the way back on Dec. 4.

Any hopes of improving that record won’t improve should D’Angelo Russell be forced to sit out due to a shin injury, with Ben Simmons already out and both Cameron Johnson and Bojan Bogdanovic day-to-day.
